The drug company Roche who make the weight loss medication Xenical have come under fire for having sold huge amounts of the drug to a company which operates a chain of weight loss clinics in the UK. The problem is that after an investigation, which was launched by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency this chain of clinics was found to have been breaking the rules regarding the prescribing and selling of the Xenical drug.

The concern is that Xenical is a prescription medication and it appears that the health clinics had been asking for big discounts to only sell the Xenical weight loss drug at their establishments. This is a clear breach of the law regarding the prescribing of any medicine and Roche should have not given any discounts and warned the directors of the health clinics that what they were doing was illegal.
A prescription medication is only meant to be given to a patient when a doctor thinks that it is the right drug for them and a doctor therefore should not be put under any financial pressure to prescribe one particular drug over another. A weight loss clinic should have a completely objective view about whether to use Xenical, Reductil, Acomplia or any other weights loss remedy in order to maintain the integrity of the service.
At Ukmedix prescriptions are only given if the prescribing doctor thinks that the medication will be good for you and one particular drug is not promoted more than another due to financial incentives. If you visit a weight loss clinic you should ask the prescribing doctor about different weight loss medications and ask him or her why they feel that the particular medicine that they are prescribing is right for you.
The Xenical weight loss drug is not right for everyone and it is important that if you do use it that the drug is used properly in conjunction with a low fat diet.
