Research done at the Medical University of Graz based in Austria has looked at the medications Reductil and Xenical and evaluated their effect on blood pressure in people using it.

The research which was recently printed in the Archives of Internal Medicine showed that both of the medications were effective in helping people to lose weight. They saw that individuals who were given a placebo drug did not lose as much weight as a people who were given Reductil or Xenical. They assessed the blood pressure of the individuals taking part in various studies and saw that Xenical was particularly effective in helping men and women not only to lose weight but also to reduce their blood pressure.
On the other hand while the Reductil weight loss medication was effective in helping people to lose weight it did not reduce blood pressure. However it is widely known that one of the side effects of using the Reductil weight loss medication is that it actually can increase your blood pressure when you are using it but this should go away when you stop.
Weight loss on its own very often reduces the blood pressure of individuals and it is likely therefore that people who use Reductil successfully will in fact experience lower blood pressure when they stop using the drug. Dr. Karl Horvath who led the research analysed many other previous weight loss studies which had focused specifically on Reductil and Xenical.
You should be aware that one of the side effects of Reductil is that it can increase blood pressure and therefore you should make certain you get your blood pressure regularly checked when you are using it. If you suffer from elevated blood pressure your doctor might recommend that you use the Xenical weight loss drug as opposed to the Reductil drug.
