Following on from the news that the Federal court in Australia has told the pharmaceutical company Roche Holdings that they are not permitted to advertise their weight loss medication Xenical in the media the company has announced that they expect the sales of the weight loss medication to plummet. The company admitted that people were now unlikely to go into pharmacies and ask for it.

What this means is that people who get the drug now will probably either be recommended it by their doctor or pharmacist. At Ukmedix News we reckon this is a good idea because while Xenical is a very good weight loss medication it should not be used by people who don't know how to use it best.
Xenical in the UK is a drug that is only available with a doctor’s prescription and this means that on the whole people who use it get good weight loss advice along with their medication thus greatly enhancing the chances of them losing weight and also reducing the liklihood of them experiencing the side effects of the obesity drug. Xenical should only be taken in conjunction with a reduced fat diet and should not be thought of as a simple weight loss drug that can be popped into your mouth after a normal meal to reduce the fat that you ingest. If you use Xenical after eating a full fat meal you are likely to suffer stomach cramps and maybe even diarrhea.
In Australia it is still possible for people to get Xenical over the counter in a pharmacy but the rules state that the pharmacist should give you proper advice and counselling before handing it over to you. An independent survey done earlier this year saw that many pharmacists in Australia were handing over the drug to people who should not have been using it as they did not have obvious weight problems.
