GSK is asking for 400 volunteers...

GlaxoSmithKilne, who are the license holders of the new diet drug Alli that  is a lower dose version of the Xenical diet drug have decided to start an educational program to help the users of this new product in the United States. Alli which is not available in the United Kingdom at present is planned to be an over the counter drug to help overweight or obese people. It is exactly the same as Xenical except that it is in a lower dose format but is still made from the same compound orlistat.

GSK To Set Up Alli Program

GSK is asking for 400 volunteers to be part of the plan to use Alli and to be monitored throughout their use of this diet drug.  When the FDA announced that they had given approval for this lower version of Xenical it made medical history in the United States for being the first diet drug to become available for the general public with no prescription from a doctor.

The idea is to setup an online blog and community so that the approved volunteers of Alli can share their experiences of using the diet drug and give support and help to other users who can logon to a website. At Ukmedix News while we feel that Xenical is an extremely effective medication for people who suffer from obesity but we still maintain the opinion that Xenical, [or any form of orlistat], should be only given out after a consultation with a doctor and when a prescription is issued.

Xenical is a drug that really the only works when it is used properly in conjunction with a low fat diet and with a moderate amount of exercise. We know from experience that patients who use the drug and continue to eat high fat meals and do not change their lifestyle will be unlikely to lose a lot of weight and will also suffer from the unpleasant side effects of the weight loss drug. Using Xenical and continuing to eat fatty food will mean that you are likely to suffer from oily stools, excess wind and unpleasant stomach cramps.

Obese and overweight people who have tried before to lose weight and have been unsuccessful find Xenical to be a real boost to their dieting efforts and it can give them the extra edge to continue dieting and to lose weight.
