Xenical And Gallstones

Now we do not mean to be sceptical...

At Ukmedix News everyone knows that we are committed to telling the truth about all drugs that are sold on the Ukmedix web site and we aim to give a complete picture of the good things about them and also the bad things. One of the most popular weight loss medications in the world, Xenical, is also one of the safest weight-loss medications in the world. Xenical is a different drug in that it is not an appetite suppressant like most of the others but it works by removing some of the fat from the digestive tract in the stomach and thus it is excreted out of the body naturally.

Xenical And Gallstones

In a recent review of the Xenical in the United States it was seen that there was a possible link between the diet drug and patients getting gallstones. In all 37 cases of gallstones were reported in people who used Xenical over a 7 year period. In the United States the FDA is bound by its code of conduct to report any adverse effects about any drugs and therefore the reporting that 37 people who were using Xenical also suffered from gallstones must be made public. Now we do not mean to be sceptical and we are keeping a completely open mind about this news…..but in view of the information that literally tens of thousands of people have used Xenical in the United States and that a mere 37 came forward to report that they had gallstones when they were using the drug means that there is not really much of a risk. You also need to take into account that people who are obese or overweight, [the sort of people who would be using the Xenical diet drug] are exactly the sort of people that would suffer from gallstones anyway.

What you also must consider is that while gallstones are a serious health hazard and something that should be avoided, being obese and overweight is also extremely unhealthy and therefore when taking any diet medication one must weigh up the risks of the side effects of the drug with the potential benefits of being thin and the potential health disadvantages of staying overweight.
