We have seen that Xenical works best when it is administered with good advice...

The promotion of the new orlistat based weight loss medication called Alli, that is a half dose type of the diet drug Xenical is beginning in the United States of America. The Alli drug does not need a prescription like Xenical and will be sold over the counter in pharmacies all over the country. GlaxoSmithKline are initiating a campaign to educate consumers about the weight loss product and have published a million copies of a small book called "Are You Losing it?" to be sold alongside the diet drug and which will give out a lot of information about Alli. GlaxoSmithKline are planning to stock up pharmacies all over America with three and a half million courses of the drug by the middle of June and it is estimated that over 40,000 retail outlets will be selling this new diet drug.

The amount of money that GlaxoSmithKline are investing in promotion is not known but a spokesman for the firm said that it is likely to be one of the largest investments that they have made in an over the counter product for some time. In view of the fact that GlaxoSmithKline is hoping that the weight loss drug may generate as much as $200 million annually they feel that the big investment is more than justified.

Much is at stake with the upcoming launch of Alli as many people think that the selling of a weight loss drug over with the counter and without a doctor’s prescription is not advisable and will not help people to lose weight in the long term.  But other people are of the opinion that by making the orlistat drug accessible to all people the chances are that the obesity problem in the United States could decline.

At Ukmedix News we have seen that Xenical works best when it is administered with good advice on diet and nutrition, as well as clear and concise information regarding the side effects of the orlistat drug and how to avoid them.  While we are keeping an onjective mind about the launch of orlistat in the United States without a prescription required, we feel that Xenical should not be freely given out as a doctor’s advice and intelligent use of it, makes it far more effective.
