Alli is made by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline

Alli is coming to the United Kingdom. This weight loss drug which is already on sale in America works by preventing the absorption of fat into your system and thus this manufacturers claim that it can increase your weight loss if you keep to a low fat diet by up to as much as 50 percent.

New Weight Loss Drug Coming To UK

Alli is in fact completely the same as Xenical but is just a lower dose version which means that it may be licenced for sale in the United Kingdom without a prescription. At present the weight loss drug Xenical requires a doctor’s consultation and a prescription before you can get it, but the idea is with Alli is that it will be available over the counter. Alli has not been completely approved by the EMEA which regulates the sale of medicines in Europe but it is thought that it will be given the green light soon.

Dr David Haslam from the National Obesity Forum of the United Kingdom gave the product a glowing recommendations saying that it was “genuine and effective”, and should not be treated as just another weight loss product.

Alli is made by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline and they said that they were happy with the recommendations from the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use to give the thumbs up for this weight loss product. From our research at Ukmedix News we know that the best way to use weight loss products is to get good advice along with them. By allowing Alli to be sold over a pharmacy counter it is likely that the quality ofadvice and patient care will be reduced and therefore we have reservations in recommending it.

The pharmaceutical company Roche who makes the higher dose version Xenical have seen that people are more likely to lose weight with the drug if they get proper dietary advice from a health care professional than if they just use the drug on their own. It is hoped therefore that if the Alli weight loss drug is sold over the counter in the United Kingdom that checks are put in motion to ensure that the proper advice is given by a pharmacist before handing over the drug.
