Want to know why you should never buy weight loss medications without a prescription? A woman from Hong Kong was recently admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital suffering from shortness of breath which doctors attributed to her use of a slimming medication which she claims to have bought in China.

The woman claimed to have used the product called SlimEasy Herbs Capsule for two years and only thanks to quick medical intervention were the doctors able to save her from heart failure and death.
Clinical testing done on the product showed that not only did it contain large amounts of the prescription medication sibutramine but also another compound called phenolphthalein which we have previously written about at Ukmedix News which is known to cause cancer.
A spokesman from the Hong Kong Department of Health said that she had been unable to identify where she had purchased the medication from in China but that they were investigating. He also warned that it was extremely dangerous for people to purchase slimming medications which did not come from a reputable medical authority or with a prescription from a doctor.
Both the Hong Kong health authorities and the Chinese health authorities have been stepping up their campaign to try and educate the public about the dangers of illegal weight loss medications. It is hoped that if enough publicity is given to cases which involve adverse health events people may be more cautious about popping pills which claim to help you to lose weight.
Anyone who has used the SlimEasy Herbs Capsule product should get an immediate medical checkup especially if they have been feeling unwell.
In the UK the only legal weight loss medication presently available is the diet drug Xenical. The weight loss medication Xenical which is made by the drug company Roche is only available with a prescription.
