When You Are Nearly There, Don't Stop

Many dieters claims that losing the first 20lbs. or 30lbs. in weight is something that they can do and manage however when it comes to the last small bit of weight loss to get them in perfect shape they struggle and fail to reach their final goal.

This happens for a number of reasons. Firstly you should consider that when you are very overweight you are actually carrying around a large amount of weight with you which means that during the course of the day during routine tasks you actually burn off more calories then you do when you are thin. For example if you run for twenty minutes on the treadmill in the gym when you are overweight you will burn a considerably larger amount of calories than you do when you are thin. You should take this into account when you work out and increase your exercise quota as you lose weight.
Another thing which happens to people losing weight is that when they see their target weight in sight they begin to relax and start to cut corners. Everyone knows the feeling of relaxation which kicks in when you see the light at the end of the tunnel when undertaking anything challenging in your life. Dieters begin to eat a little bit more and exercise a little bit less because they are “nearly there”. The last little bit of weight, [normally fat around your stomach] is often the most stubborn and difficult weight to lose for physiological as well as psychological reasons.
Something else you should consider is that you must not perceive your weight loss attempt as a diet which is only temporary and which will stop when you reach your target weight. If you are eating and exercising healthily your target weight will be maintained normally. You should not have two different eating patterns but just stick to one healthy lifestyle plan for the rest of your life rather than having a Yo-Yo pattern of dieting and then weight gain immediately afterwards.
It’s great to be thin and healthy and well worth the effort getting there.
