The term yo yo dieting is used to describe the action of people who consistently eat a lot and then go on crash diets so that their weight rarely stays the same at any point and that they are always losing weight or putting on weight. This is a very unhealthy way to eat and to live and researchers have shown that yo yo dieters always tend to end up overweight or even obese in the long run.

Yo Yo Dieting Is Dangerous

Now new research has come into the Ukmedix newsroom which shows that yo yo dieting may even more than double the likelihood of getting cancer of the kidneys. The study that was done by Swedish and American researchers looked at over 140,000 females between the ages of 50 and 79 over an eight year period with the specific intention of studying the effects of yo yo dieting.

The researchers saw a clear link between the likelihood of developing cancer of the kidneys in older women who had spent most of their life yo yo dieting. The researchers also said that it was safer for women to slowly gain weight as they grew older as opposed to shedding weight very suddenly through strict diets. 

Ukmedix News has seen other research that shows that men and women who yoyo diet all the time are also more likely to have high blood pressure and cholesterol problems in the long term.

The study that was made public in the American Journal of Epidemiology also noted that yo yo dieting tended to upset the metabolic rate of the body and never give it a chance to settle down. People who yo yo diet tend to eat unhealthily when they are putting on weight and also eat unhealthily when they are losing weight meaning that at no time can they claimed to be eating a healthy diet.

Yo yo dieting can also be psychologically problematic to break out of and therefore is not recommended by any doctors or medical professionals.
