What you do for as a job could be the biggest thing in determining your waistline and your overall health and fitness. It is common knowledge that exercise burns calories and therefore keeps people in trim but this can be very difficult for a hard working lawyer, accountant or IT specialist who spends all of his time looking at a computer screen and not moving about.
Being at a desk in a high pressure environment may also mean that at the end of the day the last thing you want to do is go to the gym. It may also be too late for you to get there in time. This is a growing problem in the UK and one that the government is encouraging employers to deal with.
The logic is simple; if your work force are fit and able they will be more productive and much less likely to call in sick so per employee you will get more out of workers if you make it a priority to keep them healthy. How can you do this you may ask…. Well the simplest thing to do is to provide an in office gym that employees can use during their lunch hours or at any other time when they are not too busy.
All you need is a small room and some weights, a running and cycling machine and a shower and you have your own staff gym. Exercise taken in the middle of the day will have your employees returning to their desks with renewed energy and with a clear mind ready to take on any challenges you throw at them.
The chances are that any investment that you put into the gym will be rewarded back to you very quickly with improved performance and better morale among your staff and ultimately higher profits.
