Weighing Yourself Often Could Be Bad For You

A new weight loss research project has come across the fact that teenage girls that weigh themselves all the time have a greater chance of suffering from eating disorders, obesity and having serious issues with their weight.
The research that was done by the University of Minnesota School of Public Health clearly saw that adolescent females who were obsessive about their weight were not necessarily the healthy ones and would often due things to themselves to lose weight that were harmful to their health.
It would seem that people who weight themselves often would be the sort of people who would be meticulous about their weight and therefore about what they eat but this is clearly not the case. The study showed that the girls weighing themselves all the time, often skipped meals, smoked a lot of cigarettes, used diet pills without prescription and even would induce vomiting and basically lived very unhealthy lives. Some were even seen to have used laxatives as a way to reduce weight that is very bad for you and can leave you dehydrated and weak.
Over a long period these obsessive diet habits can lead to an eating disorder such as bulimia or anorexia that can kill you in the long term. The research also saw that these teenager girls were at higher risk for becoming obese which is exactly what they were obsessive about not becoming. It seems that a more laid back and sensible approach to weight loss and weight maintenance is the way forward to staying healthy in the long term. The results showed that the girls who did not weight themselves all the time were much healthier and less likely to end up obese and have sudden weight fluctuations.
