Dieting And Weighing Yourself

Your body mass will change throughout the day...

People who decide to lose weight often get a bit carried away and weigh themselves everyday or even more then daily. Some medical professionals say this is not a sensible thing to do as it may give you a misleading impression about whether you have put on weight or not and also make you paranoid and depressed about your weight, but others say that it is good to be up to date with your exact weight.

Dieting And Weighing Yourself

Research that was published in the clinical journal called Preventive Medicine shows that there was no evidence to link women who weighed themselves very often to being depressed, and another study published in the clinical journal called the Annals of Behavioral Medicine said that weighing yourself every day could be useful to individuals who are attempting to lose weight or more importantly to stop themselves putting on more weight.

Obviously the advantage of weighing yourself frequently is that if you do put on weight you are immediately informed of the fact and that you can do something about it. Nevertheless on the other side of the coin you must remember that your body mass will change throughout the day depending on whether you have eaten or drunk at particular times. If you do weigh yourself every day you should make sure that you do it exactly at the same time everyday. Probably the best time to weigh yourself is first instance in the morning before you have had breakfast or drunk anything.

Be concious of the fact that if you drink a litre of water your weight will go up by one kilo or 2.2lbs and if you are dehydrated you may well get a misleading idea that you have lost weight. That is why it is especially important to weigh ourselves at exactly the same time every day. At Ukmedix News we advise people that they should weigh themselves once a week at a specific time to get a good idea of whether they have lost weight or not.
