Many people blame the obesity problem in the United Kingdom on the fact that people heat unhealthy processed food in large quantities which has very little nutrition and too much fat. This is a definite factor for the rising numbers of obese children and adults in the UK.

However we must not overlook the fact that today people walk less than they used to in the normal course of the day. In days before the car, the bus and the underground became commonplace for everybody it would not be considered abnormal to go for a twenty or 30 minute walk to the shops to get provisions. Today people tend to put a cut off limit at ten minutes maximum for the length of time that they are prepared to walk before getting some form of motorised transport. Today people place a great emphasis on getting to places quickly and thus they say that they don’t have the time to walk.
Look carefully at your day and work out how much walking you actually did and you may find that overall you have done hardly any and this may be the reason why you are overweight. One of the simplest and most effective bits of advice that we have given out at Ukmedix News and which has shown to work is telling people to make sure that they go for a walk every day.
Now this may sound extremely boring and the last thing you would feel like doing when you have got back from work is walking round the block or the park. What we suggest you do however is make a point of walking to work or at least walking back from work everyday so that it becomes a part of your day routine. If you can get a twenty minute walk every morning on the way to work you will boost your metabolism you will get your brain clear and awake by the time you get your desk and most importantly you will lose weight.
The number of kids who are getting less exercise has also grown greatly in the United Kingdom as far more of them are dropped at the school gates by their parents in cars whereas before they would have walked to school. The fear of crime is a major factor in parents driving their children to school and that is fairly understandable. Nevertheless it is important that parents encourage their children to get some form of physical exercise during the day if they want them to stay fit and healthy.
