You might have read about the FTC’s fines for a number of diet supplement companies that consistently flouted guidelines regarding the advertising of weight loss supplements but there is more to it than that now. Reports have come to the Ukmedix newsroom that a certain Janet Luna is suing not only the company that she bought the weight loss supplement from but also the celebrity that endorsed it!
Court documents show that Janet Luna is suing the maker of the diet supplement Trimspa and also the famous playboy model Anna Nicole Smith who used her image and name to promote the pills probably for a very big fee.
Janet Luna claims that she followed the same weight loss recommendations as Anna Nicole Smith and failed to lose weight despite the adverts saying that she clearly would shed the pounds. She used the Trimspa X32 tablets that promised ‘rapid & substantial weight loss’.
Ms Luna is seeking damages, reimbursement as well as an injunction against Anna Nicole Smith and the company TrimSpa. Anna Nicole Smith is in court for many other reasons and this latest lawsuit will just add to the long list.
At Ukmedix we are very apprehensive about the weight loss supplement industry that does not have we feel tight enough regulation. There are the legal supplements that normal just have a boost of caffeine in them and some other clinically untested compounds in them and there are also even more dangerous illegal supplements that come from China and India that have been know to have high doses of potentially dangerous western medications in them.
We always advise that if you take any weight loss supplement that you take it to your doctor first and have him check it out for safety and effectiveness. The chances are that he will tell you that you are wasting your time.
