We like to keep things simple at Ukmedix and we focus on diet principles and lifestyle changes rather than fixed diets. The thousands of diets out there can make things very confusing for anyone wanting to lose weight and the majority of them are based on sound principles that work for weight loss. The difficulty with diets is that they sound like they are temporary measures to lose a bit of weight before you put it all back on again. That is not good for you and we believe that weight loss will accompany a good and healthy lifestyle without the need for a regimented and complicated diet.
For example rather than looking at diet as something that restricts what you eat, consider a healthy diet as something that allows you to eat good and nutritious food and makes you feel good and healthy. Adding fruit and vegetables to your daily diet will push out other things that are unhealthy and you will lower the fat content of your daily intake.
Another simple but very effective tip is to reduce the amount of calories that you eat everyday. No that doesn’t mean that you need to buy a calculator and start to weigh ingredients…. all you need to do is be sensible and reduce the your food portions slightly say by 10 or 15%.
Think about your daily routine and ask yourself if you are getting out enough and are burning up calories. If you sit behind desk all day you will need to think about getting some exercise and working out. Even little things like walking to work can help you get fitter and shed pounds. Make sure you are not becoming a couch potato!
The great thing about going to the gym and getting some strength training is that not only will you be burning calories off when you are at the gym but the extra muscle that you gain will be constantly burning calories throughout the day. You’ll feel better and thus you will be more inclined to take the stairs rather than go in the lift and so on. Going to workout can start a virtuous circle that will keep you healthy and fit right through your life.
