a clear instance of desperate people being exploited by unscrupulous companies

A company located in Hong Kong which makes “fat burning” supplements has been given instructions by the Office of Fair Trading that they are not to advertise or promote these supplements in the United Kingdom.

Office Of Fair Trading Bans Slimming Supplement In UK

The company called Global DM Licensing which trades under the name of Nuturhealth Care Trust has recently been targeting its supplements to people in the United Kingdom with mail shots. The literature said that by just taking one of these supplements every single day people could burn off a minimum of 10lb. of weight in their first week of use and then they would lose a further 6lb. of weight every week after that. The Company also said that no diet or exercise of any sort was needed.

The claims that this company made were ridiculous even saying that they could guarantee “the body of your dreams” and warned that people using the weight loss supplement must weigh themselves every single day to prevent themselves from suffering from “over slimming”.

The Office of Fair Trading in the UK contacted the company and asked them to provide the evidence which would back up the claims that they made in their advertisements. The company claimed that they had done the clinical testing but unfortunately they were unable to provide any of the evidence. The head of consumer protection from the Office of Fair Trading said this was a clear instance of desperate people being exploited by unscrupulous companies looking to make  very fast cash at the expense of the health of consumers.

If a promotion sounds too good to be true then it definitely is. It is not healthy to lose a lot of weight extremely quickly and you should aim to lose about one kilo every week for healthy weight loss.
