A new report in the Ukmedix Newsroom claims that excessive exercise can actually prevent you from losing weight. Apparently if you over exercise every day you put your body under a great deal of stress. Stress is never healthy and is known to aggravate the production of a hormone named cortisol which is a stress hormone. Some cortisol in the body is normal especially after stressful periods but it is very important that you get good rest after your workouts so that your body can relax and levels of this hormone can get back to a normal level.

People who work extremely hard in very stressful jobs and then who pack in an intense 2 hour workout before going out to party are likely to be a living on stress and adrenaline. These are the sort of people who say that they find it very difficult to shift body weight and it is due to the high levels of cortisol in their bodies.
One personal trainer, a certain Mr. Wong says that he has seen some of his clients actually lose weight by getting some good rest as opposed to pushing themselves too hard in the gym. Any professional athlete will tell you about the importance of having complete days of rest. When you put your body under a great deal of strain it needs time to recover properly if it is to function at its peak.
If you are the sort of person who can’t sit still and you find it difficult not to go to the gym you should consider going into the sauna at the gym and maybe doing some downtime in a Jacuzzi. Alternatively you could book yourself in for a massage on the days that you do not go to the gym. Visiting the gym three or four times a week is perfectly adequate and any more than this could have a detrimental effect on your overall health.
