Natural Appetite Repressant SR101

Written by Stuart Stevens | Tuesday, 06 June 2006

Ukmedix is following reports of a new patent filed in South Korea for a compound that will work as an appetite supressant. The company that filed the patent claims that the compound can regulate the hunger of overweight and obese people and it has no side effects. The appetite is controlled by a mechanism of the central nervous system and brain functions and the new compound called SR101can influence this mechanism.

The compound SR101 is found in edible yeasts and a natural occuring extract as opposed to a drug and therefore does not need to be put through very expensive and complicated clinical testing before it can be offered for sale. The international patents have yet to be confirmed but the company is confident that they will be soon.

In the testing of the SR101 it was found that rats gained much less weight when using the compound and the company is confident that it will help obese and overweight people to lose weight too. The biggest advantage that the SR101 will have over other appetite supressants is that it is a natural compound and therefore unlike say Reductil or other chemical appetite surpressants it will not cause unwanted side effects. It should be available without prescription and would therefore be commercially attractive.

Sibutramine a very popular appetite supressant which is sold as Reductil is known to be the cause of insomnia, high blood pressure and headaches and is only sold with prescription. The makers of SR101 hope that the natural base of SR101 will encourage people to use it without fear of unwanted side effects and the fact that it is extracted from yeast which is well known should reassure people too of its safety.
