Bad Sleepers Likely To Be Overweight

To burn calories at the optimum rate you need a good night’s sleep...

At Ukmedix News we have reported on this before and new research seems to confirm it. The fact is, that people who sleep better and always get a good nights sleep are less likely to be overweight or obese. The latest research that confirms this was done in America where a doctor based in Cleveland looked at around 70,000 females of the ages sixteen plus who had answered questionnaires about how much they slept and how much they ate for the Nurses Health Study.

Bad Sleepers Likely To Be Overweight

The results apart from simply showing that people who sleep longer tend to be thinner was more specific in that it also showed that women who slept only between five or six hours daily would put on an average of between 0.7 and 1.1 kilograms when compared with other women who got an average of seven or more hours sleep every night.

Statistically you are fifteen percent more likely to suffer from obesity if you do not sleep well every night. The researchers said the reason why people who do not sleep well suffer from weight problems is likely to be connected to the metabolic digestive system being upset by an unnatural sleeping and waking rhythm. They said that in order for your body to work properly and for you to be able to burn calories at the optimum rate you need a good night’s sleep.

At Ukmedix News we also know from other research that we have seen that people who are overtired tend to eat more in order to boost flagging energy levels. This can cause people to put on weight in the long term. If you have been putting on weight recently and you have not been sleeping properly maybe you should get some good sleep as part of a weight loss plan.
