The reason why so many people fail with weight loss and dieting is that they start there new eating and exercising plans in a dramatic way. This often happens at the start of the New Year as they are full of guilt at the overeating that they have done during the Christmas period and so they want to make up for it with a big effort in the new Year.
While this might seem logical it can be a bad plan to go from overeating to sudden diet change that will shock the body and cause hunger pangs and thus make your resolve to lose weight and get fit more difficult.
We believe at Ukmedix that you just take a long term approach to weight loss and adopt a healthy lifestyle that you intend to keep forever rather than eat in such a way that causes sudden fluctuations in weight.
If you have started a crash diet following the New Year maybe you should seriously coinsider whether you will be able to sustain this diet and whether it is in fact healthy to lose such a lot of weight quickly. Research has shown that the people who are the healthiest are those that maintain a safe and healthy weight in the long term and not those who lose weight suddenly and then put it back on again.
The same approach must be given to exercise. It is no good going from a stage where you do no exercise to suddenly trying to do intense hourly workouts everyday as this will only make you sore the next day and thus less inclined to want to go to the gym or run.
Start gently and work your way up to a level that is realistic and healthy. If you are very overweight going for a long walk everyday is enough to get you started and increase your metabolism.
Remember it is never too late to start getting fit and healthy and the time to do it is now!
