The Bible mentions the human body 179 times...

In America the problem of overweight and obese men and women has hit epic proportions and very soon it is likely that 40% of all people in America will be clinically obese which means they have a BMI ratio of 30 or more. Without a doubt the biggest health problem in America today is obesity. There are hundreds of different companies selling weight loss supplements most of which are completely useless and the diet and exercise industry in America is worth billions of dollars but it is largely unregulated and much of what is seen on the market is a waste of time and promises far more then it actually gives. There are now talk shows and health discussions on TV and in some parts of America you are in a minority if you have a normal body weight.

God Can Help You Lose Weight

Anyway one story that we came across today shows that obesity has even become talked about in church services and is now getting a religious context. Apparently many priests give sermons about how you should stay healthy and that you should ask God to help you to lose weight. According to one priest, the Reverend Steve Reynolds, it was God that helped him to lose weight when he was morbidly obese meaning that he had a BMI of over 40. He claims that he has lost over 35 kilos over the last year and that he finally reckons that he has conquered his weight problem that has been with him all of his life. Not only is he not obese anymore but he has cured himself of his diabetes too.

He claims also that the Bible mentions the human body 179 times and that there are lots of references in the Bible about how we should look after our body and how we should stay healthy. In the case of Reverend Reynolds he says that he was encouraged by the Gospel according to Matthew where Jesus says that you must at times ‘deny yourself’ in order to follow him properly and faithfully.

Anyway what do we have to say about this at Ukmedix News? Well we reckon that if religion can get you to lose weight and to see the weight loss light…then go for it.
