In America portion sizes have grown out of all realistic proportion...

Sometimes simple ideas are the best and this has been seen with a new weight loss method which involves using a special portion control plate. The idea is that the plate which is divided into four different parts limits and regulates the amount of different food types that people are allowed to eat.

Portion Control Plate Helps Obese People

A reserach project that was recently done by Dr Pedersen from the University of Calgary looked at 130 people suffering from obesity and Type-2 diabetes over a six month period. She saw that at the end of the study the people who used these special portion control plates shed an average of almost 2% of their overall body weight compared to only 0.1% of those who did not use the plates. They also realised that the people who had used the portion control plates were much more likely to lower their dosages of the diabetes medicines.

At Ukmedix News we have consistently maintained that portion control is one of the best ways of losing weight. It is effective because it is so easy to follow and does not require you to drastically change what you eat but only how much of it. One of our writers in the Ukmedix newsroom who is particularly fond of spaghetti has recently lost weight by taking his large pasta bowls out of his kitchen and has replaced them with smaller ones and claims that that is the secret to his success.

One of the most compelling reasons for the explosion in the amount of people who suffer from obesity in America is that portion sizes have grown out of all realistic proportion in both supermarkets and in restaurants. In many restaurants the amount of food that is put on your plate is quite simply ridiculous and is impossible to finish. Many children will have been told by their parents to always finish what is on the plate and this means that many individuals will eat too much before giving up on the huge portions.

You would be well advised whenever you go out to eat to always ask for small portions especially if the food is very good as the temptation to overeat will be extremely great.
