From our research of various weight loss methods at Ukmedix we know that a diet in which you pair up with a buddy and swap notes on weight loss and healthy eating can be an extremely effective way of maintaining a healthy diet and losing weight. A soon to be published book seems to confirm this too. The book is called “She Loses, He Loses: The Truth About Men, Women, and Weight Loss” and it explains that couples who look at diet and weight loss as a joint effort and support and encourage each other are much more likely to eat healthily and stay trim and thin.

The best thing about dieting as a couple is that any weight loss or weight gain is almost seen straight away as they have close physical contact. Couples who are together for a lot of the day in a sense can monitor each other eating habits and the results are instantly seen. Couples are good at helping each other when things are going badly diet wise and having a loving partner encouraging you can be an incredible motivation.
Men and women have very different outlooks to weight loss too. A woman is more likely to go for a low fat and low calorie diet whereas a man is more likely to exercise more and give up mid morning snacks to lose weight. Men and women do not like to be informed that they are putting on weight by their partners (especially women) and the best way forward for a man is to only show encouragement when a woman loses weight.
In fact if a man wants to make sure that his girlfriend or wife stays slim must make it a point of complimenting her on her weight regularly. From a women’s point of view the same applies and sensitivity is always the watchword here. If a man wants his partner to lose weight or vice versa a good thing to do should be to say that he wants to lose weight and ask her to help him do so. That should spur the woman into action and get her encouragement and she’ll be very likely to follow the lead.
If you are single find a friend who also needs to lose weight and offer to go to the gym together or make a commitment to healthy eating. If you put on weight you will not only be letting you down but a friend too. The organisation called Weight Watchers works on this peer pressure aspect to motivate people to lose weight and it is very successful all over the world.
