the benefits of taking a small amount of fish oil every day are considerable

Practically everybody in the world knows that consuming fish oil tablets and eating oily fish is said to be extremely good for your heart, arteries and overall health. However research done in China and which was published in the September edition of the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition clinically proves that by administering fish oil every day you can greatly improve the elasticity of large arteries in overweight hypertensive individuals.

Direct Link Between Healthy Arteries And Fish Oil Intake

The study specifically examined the effect of fish oil on the blood pressure and arterial elasticity on around 50 volunteers. By using a randomised and double blind placebo method for the clinical trial Professor Wang and his team from the School of Medicine based in Xi'an Jiaotong University administered 3g of fish oil to half of the volunteers and used placebo capsules for the other half. The study went on for eight weeks.

Interestingly the fish oil capsules definitely improved the arterial elasticity of the large arteries but not in smaller ones. However it was also noted that blood pressure was not affected as well as the leptin levels, the lipid profile and the insulin sensitivity. Overall however the benefits of taking a small amount of fish oil every day are considerable and you should make certain that you get some regular oily fish in your diet every day.

The Mediterranean diet which is extremely high in oily fish such as salmon and tuna is known to be one of the most healthy diets of the world. It has also been seen that people who follow the Mediterranean diet throughout their lives tend to live longer and also have lower rates of heart attacks, heart disease and strokes. The Japanese people also eat large quantities of fish which definitely contributes to the fact that they are among the longest living people in the world.
