ADA Says Somes Diets Lacking Nutrition

A research project that was recently published by the American Dietetic Association shows that a number of very popular weight loss plans actually do not meet the standard nutritional levels needed for a healthy diet.

The researchers were not interested in whether the diet would actually be effective in helping you lose weight but purely looked at the diet plans from a nutritional point of view. They examined the diet to see whether it would be healthy for your heart and whether it had the broad spectrum of nutrients required for good health overall.
While some of the diets definitely came up trumps from a nutritional point of view others fell far below the required standard. For example the Weight Watchers High Carb Diet and the Ornish Plan for both seem to be more than satisfactory in terms of nutritional content and quality as well as being perfectly safe for your heart’s health. On the other hand the Atkins Diet which is a high protein and very low carb diet did not fare well because it had too much red meat, trans fat and not enough fruit and fibre.
One thing that we have noticed at Ukmedix News is that in order to have a healthy diet you must include all types of foodstuffs in your diet. It is no good going on a diet which completely cuts out one type of foodstuff as this will not be good for your health overall. You may lose weight in the short term by going on a diet like this but the chances are that you will put it all back on when you begin to eat normally again.
When you embark on a diet make sure that you are eating a balanced diet and you should consider your health to be as important as your weight. The chances are that if you eat a healthy diet you would also be eating a diet which is unlikely to make you put on weight.
