Eat The Japanese Way

Make eating a more serious ceremony...

Did you know that statistically speaking the people of Japan are the longest living people in the world, especially those from the region known as Okinawa where there are literally hundreds of people over the age of 100? The longevity of the Japanese people has been put down to the fact that their diet is so healthy and wholesome. The Japanese diet consist of lots of fish, rice and a healthy variety of vegetables as well as a lack of unhealthy processed food and fatty red meat. In the West most people associate Japanese food with sushi and sashimi which consist of raw fish.

Eat The Japanese Way

When fish is not cooked it retains many nutrients that are not present in cooked and processed food and so Japanese people always get their fair share of them. The sushi diet is also very satisfying as it is high in protein which creates a feeling of satiety even in low quantities. The way sushi is presented also contributes to encouraging you to eat less as a comes in small bite sized portions which are to be savoured individually and carefully making the whole performance of eating a slow and measured experience. People who eat too quickly tend to eat too much.

It is worth also noting that in Japan only three percent of people are clinically obese and this compares extremely well with the statistics from the United Kingdom which show that 22 percent of people over here are obese.

At Ukmedix News we know that it is pretty impossible to decide to eat like a Japanese person for the rest of your life and that it is simply not practical to eat sushi all the time, however what you could do is ‘Japanese’ your diet. You can do this by making an effort to eat more fish such as tuna, mackerel and any other oily fish. You must also try to eat more vegetables and to vary the variety of vegetables as much as possible as this will make sure that you get nutrients from all the different types, as well as making your diet more interesting. If you just stick to a couple of vegetables you are bound to get fed up of them and fall off the diet bandwagon.

Try also to eat Japanese style portions. You will find this easier to do if there are a big variety of small food amounts on your plate. Finally make eating a more serious ceremony and make your meals lasts for a longer time with plenty of talk and chapter in between mouthfuls.
