The famous British chef Jamie Oliver is in the news again after announcing his new campaign to get British people to eat more healthily. The United Kingdom which has one of the highest rates of obesity in Europe is being plagued with obesity related illnesses such as heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Jamie Oliver’s new campaign is inspired by the Second World War campaign which encouraged people to grow their own vegetables and to “Dig For Victory “. He said that he wanted to get people to prepare proper meals and to appreciate the benefits of fresh produce. He said that with millions of individuals in the UK on tight budgets they should understand that growing their own vegetables could really save them money and would be very healthy for their diet too.
His also keen to get people to learn how to cook. The chances are that if you cook for yourself you will cook something far healthier then a “ready meal” and something definitely healthier than a junk food meal. The reason why so many people resort to unhealthy eating in the United Kingdom is because they simply don’t know how to cook and Jamie Oliver is determined to change that.
He said that he was aware that people found ordering takeaways much easier than cooking a healthy meal however it only required a little bit of effort to be able to eat healthily and well and the results were definitely worth it.
Jamie Oliver has already had great success in promoting healthy eating for schoolchildren and was said to be furious when he saw mothers turning up at schools at lunch time and passing junk food through the gates to their children.
The campaign to get Britain eating healthily starts at the town of Rotherham in South Yorkshire and will go all over the UK if it is successful. At Ukmedix News we have seen the importance of education in getting people to eat properly, and we’re confident that this new campaign of Jaime Oliver will greatly encourage people to change their eating habits for good.
Good Luck mate…..
