You have probably received spam emails telling you that you must buy Hoodia, the natural weight loss product that grows in the African bush. In the Ukmedix newsroom we decided that we should do a bit of research on this diet product. Well the first thing that you should know is that Hoodia is a cactus plants that grows in the bush in South Africa Angola, Namibia and Botswana. The ethnic tribes that live in those areas have been known to chew on the Hoodia cactus leaves so that it reduces their desire to eat and so they can travel longer distances without getting hungry.

Many people reckon that because it is a naturally growing plant that it can’t be bad for you and that there are no side effects to using it this is not actually true as Hoodia has not been properly clinically tested yet. At present there are no clinical tests that have been published on the safety of Hoodia for humans and therefore we cannot recommend that you go and buy this weight loss product.
Probably the most famous person to use Hoodia was Anna Nicole Smith who marketed a weight loss broader product called Trimspa X32 as in recent years scientists have located the active ingredient in Hoodia and have been putting it into pills. Weight loss supplement companies have been cashing in on the hype surrounding Hoodia and have been producing product that sound that have names that sound like Hoodia but often contain none of the active chemical and lots of other substances which again have not been tested properly.
The FDA in America and the EMEA in Europe have received no applications from any drug companies to market the weight loss chemical in Hoodia. We feel at Ukmedix News that if it was so good and so effective, it would have been picked up by one of the big pharma companies and would be now marketed as a serious and effective weight loss drug with full approval from the FDA as well as the EMEA.
The statement that because it is natural therefore it must be harmless, this is one of the most dangerous mistakes people can make. For example the weight loss supplement ephedra which caused the death of a number of citizens of the United States, was after all just a herb and has now been completely banned from use in any weight loss products.
The choice is simple do you use something which is untried and untested or do you use something that has had thousands of people and using it and losing weight such as Reductil or Xenical.
