Being Healthy More Important Than Weight Loss

A healthy body is a strong and sexy body...

When we embark on a diet we tend to think of only one factor and that is losing weight. If we weigh for example 90 kilos we might set ourselves a target of say 80 kilos and pat ourselves on the back when we reached it. However we need to consider that when you go on a diet weight loss shouldn’t necessarily be your only goal.

Being Healthy More Important Than Weight Loss

A diet should first and foremost be healthy for you, this means that your body should be in a better state at the end of your diet than it was at the beginning. Sometimes people diet in the wrong way and they cut out important nutrients from the body which does in fact make you lose weight overall, but not all weight loss is healthy. If you dehydrate yourself for example you will appear to have lost weight but you will be damaging your body and the weight will all pile back on very quickly. It is important to remember that when you go on a weight loss diet you are attempting to lose the excess fat that is surrounding your body and nothing else.

At Ukmedix News for example we know that some people who go on diets and combine vigorous exercise with it actually end up putting on weight, however they look trimmer and in better shape. What happens to these people is that as they exercise and eat healthily the mass of their muscles in their body increases and since muscle always weighs more than fat they sometimes put on a little weight overall, despite having lost a little bit of fat.

One way of seeing whether you are shedding body fat is to measure your stomach circumference at the beginning of your diet use the measurement as a benchmark for your weight loss plans. You can even go to a nutritionist or even to a personal trainer in your gym who will evaluate the fat in different parts of your body.

Fad diets are notorious for making people lose weight but leaving them with an unhealthy body. A healthy body is a strong and sexy body and that is what you should drive for in all your weight loss efforts.
