Eating The Right Fat Could Make You Thin

A new survey that reached our newsroom recently claims that children who don’t eat enough fat can sometimes be more obese or overweight than those who eat more. Strange uh? Well it appears that children of parents who make them eat the right sort of fat are healthier and therefore thinner than those whose parents don’t.

The survey that was conducted in Sweden at Goteborg University studied the eating patterns of about two hundreds otherwise healthy 4 year old children. They saw that the children that did not eat regular amounts of unsaturated fats that are found in olive oil, oily fish like tuna and some vegetables were more overweight than those kids who did eat these types of fat.

This makes interesting reading for many nutritionist and diet experts who traditionally shun any sort of fat for weight loss and healthy living. The scientists said that many children were not eating enough of the all important Omega £ type of fat that is found naturally in many foods. Omega 3 fatty acids are said to be good for your heart and Italians who are among the healthiest in the EU and who consume vast amounts of olive oil and fish have low rates of obesity and good strong hearts when compared to countries that eat smaller amounts of the Omega 3 acids.

At Ukmedix we have seen reports that say that a good diet should have a moderate amount of fat in it but that it important to concentrate on the right sorts of fat and stay away from the bad ones. The simple rule they say is to try to consume natural fats and not to consume artificial fats that are found in many types of processed food that are found today.
Trans fats that are found in many fast food outlets that are made from hydrogenated vegetable oils are thought to be the worst for you as the are more likely to clog up arteries and to be retained in your body.

Natural fats that are present in olive oil and tuna can make to put on weight if taken in excess but are full of essential nutrients too and are less likely to be retained in your fat store. The debate continues about the different types of fat but it is becoming clearer and clearer from scientific evidence that you need to try and incorporate certain fats in your lifestyle as opposed to others.
