Your Body Needs A Little Fat

At Ukmedix News we do not promote or endorse any particular diet...

We’ve heard about this before at Ukmedix News and new research seems to confirm that in some cases people who eat very low fat diets may have a problem removing the last bits of fat on their stomachs, bottoms and thighs. The research that was done at Washington University based in St Louis showed that by eating just a little amount of certain fats like fish oils may in fact boost the fat burning process.

Your Body Needs A Little Fat

The research that was done with mice saw that the old fat that had been on the body for some time tended to be more problematic to remove and that when new fat was introduced into the body the metabolic process allowed the old fat to be shifted. It seems that the human body will try and retain a store of a little bit of fat and it will try even harder to retain this fat if the body is not ingesting any new fat in diet. The scientists said that this is further proof that in order to stay lean a healthy balanced diet with just a little bit of fat could be the answer.

The lead scientist of this research Dr Semenkovich said that extreme diets were not advised as they could mean that the body would react to the diet in a way that may make you unhealthy. He said that for example people who went on to the Atkins diet would lose weight but they could be suppressing ‘other dietary signals’ that were essential for keeping your body in good health. Doctor Semenkovich also said that the liver needs a supply of new fat so that it can control the amount of fat burnt every day. He said that the mice in the research that were given just a little bit of fat lost the stubborn old fat on their bodies.

At Ukmedix News we do not promote or endorse any particular diet but we do say that you need to eat a balanced diet that has all the essential nutrients in it and we warn our readers about fad diets and diets that completely cut out one type of food.
