Stay Away From Fad Diets

At Ukmedix we are a little wary of fad diets, diets that have fancy names or in fact any diet that promises massive shortcuts. It is true that many of them do provide a means of quick weight loss but the results tend to be temporary which means that very often people who use fad diets end up putting all of the weight back on again. Weight gain followed by weight loss is not a healthy way to live and can cause a stress on the heart as well as gallstones and The American Heart Association has come out strongly against unhealthy eating that results in weight fluctuations on a regular basis. Also the liklihood is that if you are gaining weight you are eating unhealthily and if you are losing weight with a fad diet you are eating unhealthily too so this means that there are no times when you are eating properly.

The number of diets out there is amazing and the diet book industry is huge with people always thinking that by buying book they can lose weight and forgetting that they just need to take stock of all eating habits and learn to eat healthily and carefully and not to overeat. The names that these diet book authors come up with are designed to make the diet look extra effective and very easy to follow like The 3 Day Diet, The 7 Day All That You Can Eat Diet, The Chicken Soup Diet, The South Beach Diet…the list is endless.

We believe at Ukmedix the important of long-term weight maintenance and not a yoyo pattern of weight changes. If you get into a habit of weight loss and weight gain it can be sometimes a pattern that is hard to break. The freedom of taking control of your weight and not having to think about it on a daily basis is great and can improve your confidence and well-being.
