Ukmedix has heard that the recent clinical trials of a new diet drug have been more positive than expected and as a result the researchers are busy planning more tests. The diet pill called Excalia is designed to be taken daily and works as an appetite suppressant and thus makes you feel full. It also boosts your metabolism during the day keeping your digestive system moving fat despite the smaller amount of food that you consume. In the testing it was seen that the Excalia drug helped patients to lose as much as 12% of their overall body mass over a year. The Excalia diet drug is made by the pharmaceutical company Orexigen that is based in California.
The clinical testing results were presented at a meeting of an American association for the Study of Obesity and it was clear that on average the 24 participants shed around 9.2% of body weight over a 6 month period when compared to only 0.4%n for those participants that took the placebo pill. After a year the researchers noted that 12% of body weight was lost on average by the dieters.
The researchers while hoping for good results with the drug had not expected such good results from this trial. The researchers also said that it appears that one of the reasons that this drug is so successful is because it approaches weight loss in a two pronged way. As well as an appetite suppressant compound in the pill there is also a metabolism booster that stops the digestive system slowing down when food intake is reduced. This is a big problem with dieters who report that they often reach a point in their diets were it gets almost impossible for them to continue losing weight as their metabolisms slow down so much in response to reduced food intake. This is one of the human body’s natural defence mechanisms.
The drug is no way near getting onto the shelves at pharmacies and it is likely that it will be at least 4 years before the drug will be fully tested and get FDA and EMEA approval. In the meantime Ukmedix will keep you posted on any new updates concerning the Excalia weight loss drug.
