A fresh study recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition claims that intensive behaviour therapy is much more effective in helping of these people lose over 100lb. in weight and maintaining this weight loss when compared to lifestyle or drug programs alone. In the study over 650 very obese people were asked to enter a weight loss program which consisted of special low energy meal shakes, medical advice, regular classes and training in detailed record keeping of eating habits and physical activity.

The results were extremely good with about 25 percent of the participants losing 100lb. of weight over three months, and an overall average weight loss of 134lb. over a 44 week period. At Ukmedix News we’ve seen it all before and we know that there is no better substitute for weight loss than good advice and nutritional knowledge. It is no good simply popping a weight loss drug into your mouth and thinking that you will lose weight because you may in the short run but in the long term you are very likely to put it all back on. Knowledge is power! If you are aware of what you are eating and you can be honest with yourself about your eating patterns and exercise habits you are far more likely to lose weight than if you keep yourself in denial.
Before you begin a weight loss diet it is important that you get good information and so that by the time you start watching what you consume and getting some regular exercise you will be an expert on all aspects of weight loss and nutrition. The sad fact of life is that those people who are well educated tend to be thinner than people who leave school early.
