Overweight and obese people suffer from discrimination in the workplace. There is no question about the fact that obesity is perceived by the majority of people to be the result of over eating and laziness and thus many companies do not want to portray that corporate image and thus they are less likely to employ overweight people.

According to a survey that we have seen at Ukmedix News 70 percent of employers admitted that they reckoned that overweight and obese people lacked self control or that they were just lazy and thus these people were at a great disadvantage at any job interview.
The research that was carried out by Nuffield Proactive Health Makes interesting reading and shows the deep rooted prejudices that a overweight people have to deal with everyday. Obviously it is against the law to discriminate against employing people because of their religion, race, sexual orientation, gender and age but the law does not cover discrimination against people who are overweight.
It can be a difficult dilemma for employers when they are faced with a candidate who is very overweight but well qualified and another equally qualified person who is not overweight especially when the job involves meeting clients face to face and projecting a positive and healthy corporate image. Statistics show that people are more likely to buy products of any kind from people who are good looking, healthy and trim and that overweight people will have more of an uphill struggle to convince people about the same products.
At the Ukmedix web site it is possible to help people who are overweight. Your quality of life improves greatly when you lose weight and if you are keen to get ahead in the workplace it makes sense to get fit and healthy and lose weight.
