Students Watch Your Diets

Having a fry up at 2:00am in the morning is not something unusual for students

A word of warning for all students starting universities this year that for the first occasion in their lives most of them are now going to be completely in charge of their own diets. Previously most students lived with their parents and thus what they ate was largely dictated by their mothers and fathers but at university the independence that you are given means that you are free to eat what you want and more significantly whenever you want.

Students Watch Your Diets

At Ukmedix News we have seen research that shows that some students on arrival at university start to eat extremely unhealthily and either put on too much weight or even lose weight as they eat sporadically. Having a fry up at 2:00am in the morning is not something unusual for students as they come back from a big night out and it is therefore extremely easy to slip into an unhealthy eating lifestyle.

Our advice to students starting university is to make certain that they get at least one nutritious meal a day which contains fruit and vegetables.  The temptations to overeat at university are everywhere as being in city centres means that there are fast food restaurants everywhere. Students are also very hard up and fast food is extremely cheap and accessible. Students should also be aware that if they eat unhealthily as well as the cosmetic implications of putting on weight it could also affect the ability to study well and that could affect the degree that they get in the long term.

If you are living in a student residence make sure that you buy a regular amount of fruit and vegetables and try to encourage the people that live with you to eat healthily also. There is nothing wrong with eating pasta and baked beans on toast on a regular basis but make sure that you get the other essential foodstuffs in your diet also. Try and take it easy on the takeaways and fast food and make sure that you don’t eat them every day.
