Be Careful With Dieting Myths

Ukmedix is constantly on the prowl for new dieting stories and interesting and useful articles on weight loss. Sometimes good advice gets exaggerated however and a simple health tip becomes a sacred diet principle. For example the latest thing that everyone talks about with diet is low carb and even no carb diets and it is not unheard of for people to completely cut out carbs from their diet. While this may produce great weight loss results it might not necessarily make you feel better and healthy.

A small amount of carbs are good for you as they give you energy and only eating protein can mean that you will crave for a carbohydrate meal and thus put more pressure on your weight loss resolve. The human body is designed to eat carbs and protein and completely cutting out one or the other can only be detrimental to you in the long term. Ukmedix is happy to recommend a low carb diet along with sensible exercise for weight loss but warns that extreme diets can often create more harm than good.

Another latest diet fad is that we must eat fish containing the all essential omega 3 fatty acids and that we should do this 3 times a week. This advice is constantly touted by nutritionists as diet gospel and while it is true that omega 3 fatty acids are found in abundance in oily fish and they are healthy for you they can also be found in other foodstuffs as well.

Some nutritionist seem to make out that anyone who doesn't eat fish 3 times a week will definitely not be as healthy as those who do and Ukmedix is eager to point out that this is not the case provided that you eat a well balanced diet as omega 3 comes from many different sources. This will be a relief for people who don't like to eat fish and have been forcing themselves to eat it. Forcing yourself to consume things you don't like is a soul destroying way to maintain health, so take note that there are many ways to attain the nutrition the body needs and you should find a diet that you feel comfortable with.

Another extreme dieting fad is that being vegetarian makes us more healthy and that eating meat is bad for you. Again taken in the extreme this advice is not realistic and needs to be questioned. For example cooked vegetables can lose up to 70% of their nutrition when cooked and that only eating cooked vegetables will not be make us as strong and healthy as we could be. In fact it is uncooked and raw veg that is best for you and eating that sort of diet is not really feasible. Those people who think that they will become instantly more healthy by becoming a vegetarian are not receiving good advice.

Ukmedix advises people to eat a sensible balanced diet and that portion control is very effective for weight loss.
