A study conducted by Dr. Catherine Davis who is the clinical health psychologist based at the Medical College of Georgia says that by getting overweight children to do just three months of physical activity everyday can greatly reduce the chances of them suffering from diabetes and also improve their cognitive function. For this research around 200 overweight children between the ages of seven and eleven who were previously pretty inactive were given an exercise routine to reduce their body fat and to boost their bone density.

Dr. Davis said that not only did the children become thinner but they were psychologically healthier after following their exercise programs. The children were also given mental tests which examined their decision making process and it was seen that the children who exercised had small to moderate increases in their scores along with a slight improvement in mathematical ability. She said that their metabolisms had increased and they had been educated in healthy eating and nutrition.
At Ukmedix News we have seen some other studies that physical exercise is extremely important for children not just because it is healthy for them at the time but because it instils in them good disciplines which will help them in later life. Children who are used to exercise will have no problem going to the gym and keeping fit in later life but those children who are used to playing video games and being couch potatoes will find it much more difficult to change their habits when they get older.
After hard day’s work many people say going to the gym clears their mind and gets them to think in a much clearer way. Exercise can improve the blood flow and also relax a stressed person. Do not just think of exercise as a means of improving your body but also as a way of getting you to improve your cognitive function.
