Chocolate can be part of a balanced and healthy diet provided that it is taken in moderation and that you therefore do not over indulge yourself with it. A diet that has no vices is frankly speaking pretty dull and chocolate can work wonders for the moods of people on diets as it can help the body to release serotonin. This chemical compound is part of the mechanism that can put you in good moods and many people report that they get into a good mood after eating chocolate.

Having a chocolate snack is also a mood enhancer too because of the psychological effects that you are enjoying yourself and eating something that tastes good. A successful diet is one that gets you in a good mood and motivates you and a small bit of chocolate could be a great help to get you in the right mood to sustain your weight loss plans.
Dieting makes many men and women stressed and stress can be the cause of people breaking their diets. Chocolate can just take the edge of that stress and give you the helping hand to keep going and stick to your plans. But be careful! Don’t over do it. Limit your chocolate intake to a small bar of chocolate everyday and no more. Chocolate also contains antioxidants that are good for health as they are part of the process by which the body removes harmful free radicals from itself. Research shows that the darker the chocolate the more beneficial it is. (That doesn’t mean that you can eat more dark chocolate, as it is still loaded with calories.)
Just be sensible about your diet and be honest with yourself about your chocolate intake. Many people claim that they only had a small piece of chocolate when in fact they ate the whole chocolate bar.
