Avocados, Peanuts and Spaghetti

You need to keep an open mind about the things that you consume

At Ukmedix News we sometimes hear people making blanket statements regarding one particular type of food. For example the other day somebody was saying that avocados were bad for you because they were very high in fat! It is this sort of stupid statement that drives us mad in the Ukmedix newsroom because the person who is preaching about the avocados is probably also the same person who regularly eats huge hamburgers full of trans fat.

Avocados, Peanuts and Spaghetti

Yes, it is true that avocados have fat in them but it is a natural fat which is in fact good for you in small doses. Eating a few avocados a week will not make you put on weight and since they are full of antioxidants and Vitamin E along with a host of other good nutrients they will not do you any harm at all.

Another food that many people completely shun is the humble peanut. We have been told that peanuts can cause cancer and that they are extremely high in fat. However you should remember that firstly peanuts like avocados contain completely natural fat and also that they are good snacks because they make people feel so full with a small amount. They have an extremely high satiety quotient which can be extremely useful for getting rid of hunger pangs. Obviously if you eat too many of them you will put on weight but a handful every now and again when you are feeling hungry will not do you any harm.

Spaghetti and all types of pasta come in the firing line from the low carbs brigade which we feel is a little bit unfair at Ukmedix News. It is true that pasta contains a lot of calories however provided that the sauce that you make with it is not too fatty and that you do not eat too much of it there is absolutely no harm in eating pasta everyday.

You need to keep an open mind about the things that you consume and make sure that you eat a balanced diet and eat moderate sized portions and provided that you do not eat too much of one particular foodstuffs you should maintain good health.
