Obesity Ambulances For NHS

Almost 25 percent of all the UK hospitals are using the special ambulances...

At Ukmedix News we reckon that probably the biggest proof that the United Kingdom is becoming seriously obese is from a new report that shows that the National Health Service of the UK has been ordering extra large and extra strong ambulances to manage the larger amounts of extremely heavy people that require hospitalisation.

Obesity Ambulances For NHS

Recent statistics that we have observed at Ukmedix News show that almost 25 percent of all the UK hospitals are using the special ambulances which as well as being wider have special strength stretchers as well as motorised hoists and stronger suspension. It is probable that in the very near future all hospitals in the United Kingdom will be given access to at least one of these special ambulances and this will take the strain off the fire service which has in recent years often been called out to help move seriously obese people who can’t walk. The Fire Brigade has complained on numerous occasions that they were being asked to do this when in fact their job should be limited to putting out fires and assisting the public in emergency situations.

There were also many complaints from ambulance operators and their Unions who said that these obese and extra large people were putting their own health in danger and that the special ambulances were needed so that both the obese patient and the ambulance operators could get the obese people to hospital in safety. Official statistics show that almost 25% of adults in the United Kingdom are clinically overweight and that the number of obese people is rising sharply.

Particularly worrying is that the amount of obese children has risen sharply over the last two decades and that childhood obesity is a strong indicator for obesity in adulthood meaning that in the future the NHS Is likely to have to deal with far more obese people.
