The twenty year old daughter of Donatella Versace is in serious danger of dying from the eating disorder anorexia as her weight is now only four and a half stone. Allegra Versace who owns 50 percent of the famous Versace fashion name has been battling with her weight for some time. She is presently being treated in hospital in Los Angeles and she is being force fed through her nose using a nasal gastric tube. There are concerns that at any point her heart and kidneys could fail.

At Ukmedix News we encourage healthy eating and getting increasingly concerned by the images that the media present of super skinny women who are obviously eating unhealthily and dangerously. These media images put a lot of strain on young girls and individuals who are very conscious of their appearance and thus they starve themselves to lose weight.
Starving yourself is never an option for weight loss and people who go on starvation diets are statistically more likely to end up putting all of the weight back on again. People whose weight constantly fluctuates are likely to suffer from gall stones, high blood pressure and cardio disease in the long term. Eating healthily is the best way to lose weight and by starving yourself all you do is reduce the speed of your metabolism and you encourage your body to store excess fat.
The fashion company, Versace have been criticised in the past for using extremely thin models and also selling clothes that are ridiculously small. Maybe the fact that anorexia is now being brought so close to home at the fashion company they will encourage larger and healthier looking models to show off their clothing advertisements and on the catwalk. In the UK there are a number of initiatives to ban very very thin models from the catwalks.
