Ukmedix has learnt of new research that says that those who eat more fruit and veg will end up with less wrinkles all over their body and faces. The research suggests that people can even get their skin to appear younger by including in their diet plans more paprika and tomatoes. The research was printed in a Berlin based magazine called the Dermatologist.
Apparently compounds called free radicals which are in fact unstable molecules of oxygen are responsible for skin aging. The body reacts to the free radicals by producing antioxidants and this keep skin looking young. The problem is, the researchers claim is that the body needs help to get the optimum level of antioxidants and therefore eating food with high levels of it can help.
Certain foods, especially vegetables like tomatoes and carrots as well as paprika and green tea have high levels of antioxidants which can keep the skin aging to a minimum. The researchers noted that those people who had very high levels of antioxidants in their skin didn't look as old as those with lower levels. The anioxidants they claim prevented wrinkles and lines appearing on the face.
Vegetarians who ovbiously eat larger amounts of vegetables that are high in antioxidants scored better in the testing that normal eaters, but the study said that people who take too many antioxidants by using special supplements and pills could be in danger of boosting the free radical processes and thus causing more wrinkles. Their advice was to stay away from the supplements and to stick to the healthy consumption of vegetables and fruit in a normal diet.
