Ukmedix has learnt of a University funded research project that has examined the attitudes to weight loss and staying slim of thousands of women students worldwide. The UK survey undertaken by the University College of London looked at twenty thousand students in over 20 countries.
Of all the countries looked at and surveyed it was found that the South Korean women were the most worried and careful about maintaining their weight at a healthy level and 77% of them were dieting and exercising regularily. Coming second were the Japanese with a figure of 70% followed by Poland (64%) and the U.S. (59%).
The survey also asked the students whether they considered themselves to be overweight or obese and 43% and 63% of students in Korea and Japan respectively said that they thought they were overweight. The researchers used BMI analysis and questionnaires to determione results. The found also that the students in America were the most overweight but interestingly enough a lower figure of 45% said that they thought that they were overweight or obese but nearly 60% said that they were attempting to shed pounds.
Ukmedix advise people to be honest and sincere about their weight and not to kid themselves into a false sense of security regarding being overweight or obese.
