Women And Their Bodies

A recent survey into the attitudes that women have to the way they look and their weight has come up with some interesting revelations. We all know that women are always critical about the way they look but it appears that only one UK woman in fifty is prepared to say that she is happy with how she looks, with the other forty nine saying that they can't stand the way they look, complaining about their breasts, hips and stomachs.

Apparently the average woman thinks about her size and weight all the time with almost one third of those questioned saying that they think of their weight all the time. Over half of the UK women questioned said that the fact that they are overweight or not happy with their body shape has a negative impact on their sex lives.

This desire to be body perfect is a becoming more prevalent with 10% of women saying that they have had some form of cosmetic surgery to enhance the way they look, and more than half of the wome said that they were planning on having it sometime in the near future. The most common surgical interventions were breast increasing surgery and dental closely followed by Botox injections. Other popular surgeries are liposuction for the removal of fat and breast reduction, also nose surgery and eye and lip enhancements.

The results of the survey show that women are body shape obsessed and that what they are eating or not eating is a focal part of their day and when they put on weight it can make them very worried and depressed. This obesession with body weight can't be healthy and is thought to be a constant issue of stress for women.

In a recent vote the actress Kelly Brook was thought to have the ideal body shape by women. Kelly Brook is not stick insect and is all curves and look very healthy. The media is partly responsible for giving us idealised body images that put pressure on women to live up to certain expectations. Surgery allows some women to become bodily 'perfect' by cutting out and adding on to the body the bits that don't look perfect.

The survey which involved questioning five thousand women all over the UK also showed that over 70% thought that their lives would be better if they had a better body shape. The only body part which got more than a 50% approval rating was their "slimmish ankles". everything else scored less than 50%.

The survey shows the money to be made in the weight loss industry and asked the women if they had used slimming pills or laxatives. One in three have used slimming pills and one in 5 have used laxatives.
