To diet and to diet effectively the best way forward is simplicity. Complicated diets that require you to eat special diets foods can sap your energy and stamina which are essential for sticking to your diet. When you go to a supermarket these days you see big signs advertising diet foods and low fat foods and if you are on a diet you can often be drawn towards them.
However these diet foods are often full of unhealthy additives and preservatives which are put in to enhance the flavour of the food due to the low fat content. The signs can be misleading too as something low in sodium might be high in fat and vice versa. Another problem with these diet foods is that the person eating them often eats a bigger quantity in the knowledge that they are diet foods and therefore actually eats more.
The human body digests food in a metabolic cycle and the thyroid gland is the metabolic regulator. When you eat food full of artificial compounds the digestive cycle must work harder to clean the blood and get rid of these additives. This can mean that the body takes a longer time to digest and therefore more fat is absorbed and less weight and body fat is burned off.
In fact low fat and fat free snacks may put an extra strain on the heart too as the sugar salts which are known to bad for people with cardio problems. It is much better to keep your diet simple with lots of fruits and vegetable and to cut out chocolates and fatty snacks whether they say diet or low fat on the packet or not.
Eating sensibly and simply can ease the stress of dieting and the worry about what you can and can't eat. Lots of fruits and vegestables are easy to eat and ethe choice is very extensive. Leave apples and oranges around so that you can eat one if you hunger is getting the better of you. Wholemeal foods are also good as they sate the appetite and digest slowly giving you a constant enegy level all day.
Think about the quantity you are eating too. Do not eat a lot at set meal times as it'll make your stomach expand and so you'll feel hungrier later. It is better to eat 3 small meals daily and eat fruit snacks if you get hungry between meals.
Some exercise is also beneficial as it gets your muscles working which burn up the calories and fat. The more you exercise the bigger your muscles get therefore the more calories are burnt in fuelling them. Exercise can sometimes be dull, so make it exciting by taking scenic walks and playing sport with friends. Varying your exercise will break the monotony and over time you may find that you begin to actually look forward to working out.
The problem all over Europe and America is that its citizens are not maintaining a healthy weight and are not exercising and this is contributing the high levels of obesity in cities. Nearly 2/3rds of American adults are clinically overweight and nearly a third are clinically obese and European statistics are catching up. The most worrying obesity statistics are the ones for children which are rising at a faster rate than the adult ones.
