Oxyntomodulin, The Weight Loss Hormone

Research studied by Ukmedix shows that boosting levels of a particular hormone that occurs normally in the stomach may be able to help people who over eat and who are obese. The hormone called oxyntomodulin naturally limits the appetite along with enhancing in the level of activity found in normal people. These are the two most important weight loss factors and so this naturally occuring hormone could really help us to get slim.
Oxyntomodulin, has a signalling function to tell the brian that the stomach is full and the researchers noted that obese people had the hormone in smaller quantities that slim people. Imperial College in London where the research was done, noted that it was already known that oxyntomodulin restricted the appetite but not that it could actually boost physical activity.
The researchers are particularily excited about the properties of this hormone because it is a naturally occuring hormone and compound so that it is not likely to intereact badly to the body like some weight loss medications and drugs. In fact it will be an entirely natural weight loss method.
At present there is no evidence that says by increasing the amount of this hormone in a person that other problems would occur, and sometimes the body does over produce this hormone in rare cases which always leads to weight loss.
In the research, obese men and women were divided into 2 groups and given doses of the hormone oxyntomodulin thrice daily or given a placebo. After 4 days the volunteers were evaluated on energy levels and food consumption. The results were dramatic with all the people using the hormone reporting that their appetite had decreased and that they were using more energy. In the 4 days body mass reduced on average by half of one percent roughly about a pound in weight.
This discovery could have serious implications for the weight loss industry and the way that it tackles the problem of obesity.
