A Diet Rich In Essential Oils Can Improve Your Mood

The saying 'you are what you eat' has been around for ages and some recent research has shown this to be especially true. In a carefully controlled study in the UK it was shown that prison inmates who were given one diet were more likely to commit violent acts and to get into trouble than another group of prisoners who were fed a different diet.
Everyone knows for example that if you eat lots of high fat food that you will put on weight or if you don't eat protein your muscles won't grow but this research that shows that your mood can be effected by your diet really underlines the importance of good eating. The researchers claim that there is a clear link between the eating of seafood and your mood and that the essential ingredient for your good mood is omega 3 fatty acid that is abundant in fish such as tuna and salmon.
The existing knowledge on omega 3 fatty acids is that they are good for the heart and that they may reduce the likelihood of getting diabetes or a stroke. They have been for countless years considered to be an important factor of a healthy diet and most diet plans include a certain amount of oily fish. The Mediterranean diet is known to be especially high in oily fish and this is touted as one of the reasons for the longevity of Mediterranean people.
This new research adds another benefit to eating lots of oily fish and the study hints that it could even lower the incidence of attention disorders and mental problems like schizophrenia as well as getting mental function working better and more clearly.
The UK study on the prisoners saw that those who ate more fatty acids were around 35% less likely to get involved in violence and were generally of a better disposition then the ones who had omega 3 lacking from their diet. Other experts even go as far as to say that eating oily fish is one of factors for the relaxed attitude of Mediterranean people. This research needs to be looked at more clearly but it could have an impact on the diets that are served in prisons and other places were good temperament is required such as schools and company canteens.
