The world famous Mayo Clinic following a long study program on female weight has come to the conclusion that those women that are overweight but keep fit and exercise on a regular basis probably can claim to be healthy at present but being overweight in the long term has health implications. The best and safest way to be is fit and thin at all times.
Many overweight women who maintain a certain level of fitness are of the opinion that they are fine and that their weight is not a health issue due to the fact that they exercise often. However exercise does not negate all overweight health risks it just decreases some of them, such as diabetes.
Incidentally those women who maintain a good weight but do not exercise can also increase their chances of getting certain diseases if they do not exercise. In fact one Mayo Clinic study for females said that being unfit was a more serious thing than simply being overweight.
The Mayo Clinic said therefore that the best way forward was to be fit and slim at all times to keep healthy and stop dieseases like diabetes, hypertension and cardio problems in later life. They recommend at least half an hour of exercise 5 times weekly. Things like walking, gentle jogging or swimming are good for weight loss and cardio fitness and can also be fun.
